About This Blog

Oh Boy Mom started out as a blog with stories and posts about my adventures raising three boys. There was also plenty for parents of girls as well, as I would feature guest posts from parents raising both genders in my “Comparing Notes” section.

The overriding feature of my blog, whether discussing parenting or not, has been humor. I was never one to take myself too seriously, and I made sure to highlight that in my writing.

But then, when our family was turned upside down by a major health crisis with our 9-year old, I wondered whether I could or should keep writing, let alone blogging. And if I did keep blogging, did I want it to be about this challenge? AND, if I did blog about this, did I dare try to keep the humor in my posts?

After much thought about what would be right for my family and me, I realized that not only did I absolutely need to keep writing, but that I also had to keep writing humor, even if the topic was not all that funny. What I’ve quickly discovered is that humor has become a necessity for our daily life and it has been the only way to keep us all sane, through a very difficult time.

So, I present to you a bit of a re-launch of Oh Boy Mom. It’s the same blog, with the same cast of characters, and the same humor, but the focus has changed. If you were a reader before, I can guarantee you will still enjoy my posts. If you are new here, welcome and come along for the ride!

If you have any questions or comments along the way, I’d love to hear from you!

Peace,

Emily

Loved finding your site, I am mom to 6 boys! (all mine!)They are now 21,25,29,30,32 and 40. I spend lots of time with all of them. They take me to lunch, bring me lunch, we go to auctions, paint together and so on. Each one is different. It would be nice having a girl but I have sisters and still have my mom. I also finally have a granddaughter who is 5. Now that you will love!! My best to you. Keep on raising boys and raising hell!! LOL I am! (and any of them would brush my hair and even rub my feet if I need it)

I enjoyed reading your posts and I can relate to them too as I have 2 football crazy boys-almost 13 and 71/2 years old. I write about them occasionally.

I may only have 2 boys, but I am a boy mom all the way! Can’t imagine my life any other way!!!
Life always manages to throw us a curveball and see what we do with it. I believe that taking the time to look into yourself and what was important was a good and healthy one. Much like your mom’s doctor, I also believe that laughter is the best medicine. I was diagnosed with breast cancer when my boys were 5 and 3 (they are now 10 and 8). We spent and continue to spend a large part of everyday laughing-at each other and the world!!
I love your new description and will continue to read, if only to remember that I am not alone in my boy world!!
