Middle Dude’s 2nd Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand

June 8, 2015 in Inspirational Stuff

It’s that time of year again…lemonade time! It also means it’s time to raise money for a very important cause: childhood cancer. Middle Dude and I are already preparing to make our homemade lemonade (with a little help from Ina Garten’s recipe) and we hope you’ll be ready to drink a cup and help us raise much needed funds for pediatric cancer research.

And in case you need a refresher in what this cause is all about…

It’s about making a meaningful difference in the battle against childhood cancer by holding an Alex’s Lemonade Stand during this year’s National Lemonade Days June 12-14, 2015. This is an annual June tradition which started 11 years ago when ALSF founder Alex Scott (1996-2004) held the first lemonade stand and challenged the nation to help her raise money for pediatric cancer cures by selling one cup of lemonade at a time .  Over $1 million for childhood cancer research is raised annually through Alex’s Lemonade stands and events, which occur both during the National Lemonade Days as well as year-round.

Middle Dude has continued to support his brother by staying involved with this cause. Right now, he is working on a research paper for his freshman English class…the topic he chose? Childhood cancer. He has not only worked hard on the research and writing components of the assignment, but he also interviewed Little Dude’s doctors to obtain their input for the paper.

This year we are holding our 2nd annual lemonade stand here in Larchmont on Saturday, June 13th. This time, our stand is being held at a prime location (although last year’s location in front of the cupcake store was also prime — and fattening!). This year’s location also has a meaningful connection to Little Dude: We will be at the Chatsworth school carnival! Chatsworth is Little Dude’s elementary school and this year, he is graduating from there and moving on to middle school – yeah! So, if you’re a “local,” please stop by our stand at Chatsworth on the 13th from 11am-4pm. If you can’t make it, you can always donate online – ANY amount is always appreciated. All of your Dudes are utterly awesome. I wish I were local so that I could support this more than just on FB and Twitter. <3
