Oh Boy Mom Is Going On A Hiatus

July 10, 2013 in Uncategorized

It’s not what you think…

I’m not throwing in the blogging towel or going on a long, exotic vacation, although I certainly wish that was the reason.

Sometimes a major event in your life — and especially one that involves your child’s health — makes you completely re-shuffle your priorities and focus on what’s truly important. If I didn’t have perspective before, I certainly do now.

I still plan to blog.

I love to write and I NEED to write, especially now.

However, I am in the process of figuring out HOW I want to write about this.

So far, this is what I know: I want my new off-shoot blog to still reflect Oh Boy Mom’s humor and occasional atypical angle on parenting. I also want my new blog to be a source of comfort, inspiration and comic relief to other parents who may be experiencing similar situations with their own children.

I always wondered if my blog had enough of a niche, and whether it was forever going to be overshadowed in the very saturated mom blog category.

As it turns out, sometimes you unintentionally stumble upon a niche for your blog. ย I now know that my new blog most definitely will have a clearly defined role out there in blog-land.

Please stay tuned for further details. I hope you will join me on this new journey and stick with me as Oh Boy Mom changes direction. I will make several announcements when my first post goes live so please keep your subscriptions active. The new blog will most likely appear right here using the same domain (ohboymom.com), but will have a different header and design, reflecting its new focus.

I sincerely appreciate your loyalty and patience while I make this transition.

As life presents many paths, we must each choose our own to travel. Whether the sun shines brighter, or the clouds block the golden rays, we will only find out by adjusting our course. As nothing is etched in stone, future adjustments can also be made. One day, the destination sought can be ours for the taking. It was once said, “One will never reach a destination if they don’t attempt to start the journey.” I wish you the best and really hope it works out. Btw, can’t wait to rake your new blog over the coals on a weekend blog critique!!!! lol Good luck!

I will stick with you wherever you go, Emily because I love your writing and I think you are a fantastic person. I am a firm believer in a greater power sometimes steering us in a different direction…the one we’re supposed to be on, through things we might not have realised or thought of. Strongs to you and your family. Looking forward to your new blog. x

Thanks Melanie and I agree with you about a greater power…I want you to know that I read your book while I was in the hospital with my son (lots of hours of just waiting and waiting) and even though the subject was geared towards people pursuing their dreams, I found your advice very helpful and inspirational in terms of giving me strength to overcome this challenge.
