Don’t worry, I won’t be listing the usual, “lose 10 pounds” and “exercise regularly” resolutions. If you’ve been following my blog, you should know by now that I roll a little differently than that. I want to make resolutions that I can actually keep. So, I’ve lowered the bar just a bit this time. Here are Oh Boy Mom’s resolutions for 2013:
- Cook dinner once a week instead of never
- Keep track of how often my kids have bathed instead of waiting for them to smell bad
- Arrive 5 minutes late to all activities instead of 10 minutes late
- Curse once a day instead of
twice, three, a lot - Buy less junk food, but ice cream is exempt
- Go on a tropical vacation. Thanks to my son’s recent knee injury, we are excused from skiing this winter…Puerto Rico here we come, I hope! (not sure that counts as a resolution, but I’m listing it here anyway)
- Walk the 1/2 mile to school with my son once a
week, month, rather than driving him because we are late. - Play lots of tennis (oh wait, I already do that!)
- Shop more. This may sound like a joke, but it’s not. I really don’t buy myself enough nice clothes. Time to add to the credit card debt and revamp the wardrobe, because how can you be a happy, carefree mom without a nice pair of boots?
- Speaking of being a happy mom, I will sleep in every Saturday and Sunday and holiday, and if there is an early practice or game to watch, I’ll be there in yoga pants, un-showered and makeup-free of course.
No need to check back with me by year-end to see if I’ve kept these resolutions…I can assure you they’re in the bag!
Time to celebrate! I’ve got my bottle of champagne chilling…hope you all do too. I just hope I can make it to 10pm. Since becoming a parent fifteen years ago, I think I’ve made it all the way to midnight maybe twice….
Now everyone, go and have yourself a very Happy New Year and most of all, THANK YOU for reading and continuing to support me! See you in 2013!

:)))))
Add me to this list. Awesome and a very Happy New Year!!!
Thanks and same to you Janine!
I like your resolutions!! Especially the ice-cream, tropical island, and shopping part. Sounds like 2013 is going to be tons of fun! 🙂
Thanks and yes, hoping 2013 is as fun as I intend it to be!
I like number two the best. 🙂
🙂
see ya on the 2013 Express
You’ve got some great ideas Emily! I don’t know about only cursing once a day though…I’ve already cursed three times and I’ve only been up an hour. What? It’s snowing damn it! I was on a beach in a bikini three days ago – now I need a snowsuit? Whatever!!
Haha! I feel your pain Kelly…it hurts going from 85 degree weather to the snow! You’re right, that deserves a few curse words. 🙂 Stay warm and have a very happy 2013!
Emily, so happy to be keeping up with you and life with the boys through your blog. Love the blog and love your resolutions, too. Here’s to a wonderful 2013!
Same to both of you and thanks so much for continuing to follow and read my posts! I feel likewise about your blog…love it! Happy New Year!
NEVER EVER Give up ice cream! I am with you sister!
Oh I never ever could…it’s one of the staples in my diet. 🙂
I love your resolutions. Here’s to a great 2013!
Thanks and Happy New Year! Looking forward to seeing more beautiful photos in 2013…:)
Em, I love reading your blog and I love all your resolutions! I’d love to help you shop while I resolve to shop less! My most important resolution is to play at least once a day with my kids. Oh, plus a little more cardio and a little less vino… 🙂
Just a little less vino, because we all need our wine from time to time…thanks for being such a loyal reader/follower of my blog. I really appreciate your support! Let’s make sure we get together soon, and if we shop while doing so, all the better! Happy & healthy New Year!
Sounds like some realistic goals (although I wish you luck on cutting back on profanity… remember how many boys you have). My goal is to avoid setting goals. It’s a difficult act to follow, but so far I’m succeeding well. Happy New Year!
Good for you on reaching your goal of not setting goals or resolutions :)…Happy New Year!
I have that many bad behaviours and new things I want and need to do that I would be sat here until February writing them out. I am just going to wing it, like I always do!
