I Am Honored…

November 20, 2012 in Uncategorized

Woo Hoo!

I can’t believe it…I actually won something — AGAIN. This is the second blogging award to have come my way.  The first was the Versatile Blogger award and now this, the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.  A huge thank you to Janine, the fabulous blogger at Janine’s Confessions of A Mommyaholic who bestowed me with this honor.  Janine stumbled across my blog and became a loyal follower, to which I am forever grateful.  She always has upbeat and enthusiastic comments about my posts and what’s more, she’s always willing to offer her help whenever I have a blogging question (which can be quite frequent).  She beat me to it; had this award come my way via a different blogger, I certainly would have awarded it to Janine.  However, in the spirit of passing down this great honor, I will first tell you seven interesting facts about me (or you can pretend they are interesting) and then I will announce the next blogger to whom I think this award should go to.  First, my seven facts:

  1. I drink iced tea daily, but I will not make it myself.  I insist on buying it from Dunkin Donuts or Cosi, because only those two places can make it the right way.  Oh and I drink it year-round, even in the dead of winter.
  2. I play tennis 2-3 times a week, but my game never improves.
  3. I hate peanut butter, but I love the smell of it.
  4. I hate to cook more than anything else in the world, even more than peanut butter.
  5. I was bit by a horse when I was 8.
  6. I love dogs, sometimes more than certain people.
  7. I met my husband in Cancun, Mexico during spring break at a bar where they sold t-shirts that read, “Another Shitty Day In Paradise.” My only regret is not buying that t-shirt.

And now for the announcement you’ve all been waiting for….the next blogger to receive this cool award goes to…..

Roshni!  She’s a mom of two boys and blogs at MomofBigALittleA. She describes herself as an Indian-American mom to two hyperactive, hyper-speechific boys. Roshni is well-deserving of this award, as her posts are funny, honest, smart, and real. Check out her wonderful blog soon and congratulate her on becoming the next winner of the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award!

Emily, thank you, but it has been my pleasure. I am not even sure how I did stumble upon your blog, but when I did I remembered thinking I could relate and loved how refreshing your posts were. Then, when I found out you were a fellow New Yorker, I couldn’t believe the odds. I am so very happy to follow you and even more happy that we have become friends through this crazy world of blogging. I loved learning a bit more about you here that I didn’t yet know. Funny my husband asked me the other day, who drinks iced coffee in the winter and now I have the answer, “My friend Emily!!” :) :)

Ha – yup, many people think I’m crazy with my iced drink, but it’s the only way I like it! And the feeling is likewise: happy to be following and blogging with a fellow New Yorker who I can count as a new friend too!:)

OMG!! What an honor! Thank you so much!! I love dogs too often more than certain people!! 😀

ohboymom November 20, 2012 at 6:49 pm

You’re very welcome…and I knew we were kindred spirits on both loving dogs!

Stacy Harris November 20, 2012 at 6:50 pm

Very cool…. I need to get mine done as well but I fear most of my sister bloggers have already gotten the award! Great job and great post… Janine is truly a wonderful blogger and so are you! :)

ohboymom November 20, 2012 at 6:54 pm

Thanks so much Stacy, and yes I felt the same way, fearing that most of the Bloppy group had received the award so I went outside the group to share some of the blogging love!

Grown and Flown November 20, 2012 at 8:44 pm

Many congrats. And I am with you on the cooking…

ohboymom November 20, 2012 at 11:19 pm

Thanks and good to know I’m not alone on the anti-cooking front.

Cari Lorine November 20, 2012 at 11:38 pm

Congratulations, Emily!! I love dogs, too, and am OBSESSED with iced tea. I never like to make my own either, though.

ohboymom November 20, 2012 at 11:44 pm

Cari, You sound like you could be my long lost twin sister (except I’m waaayy older than you)…dog AND iced tea lover — awesome!

Each and every one of you are deserving of this fine award! Btw, if you think dogs have it all over a few people you know, you should try cats. They really show some of them up! lol Congratulations!

ohboymom November 21, 2012 at 2:11 am

Thanks Rich – I appreciate your praise. And I love cats too and could definitely see how they show up some humans.

Stephanie Sprenger November 21, 2012 at 2:21 am

Whoo-hoo! Good for you, mama! You definitely deserve this one! I loved your fun facts about yourself, too! :) Roshni’s blog is great- good choice!

ohboymom November 21, 2012 at 2:28 am

Thanks Stephanie, I appreciate it…I hope you were awarded it too — I couldn’t keep track of who had received it in our group so I hope you were acknowledged too because I love your blog!!

So sweet! I love your awardee and it’s fun reading the “7 things” – I’m like that with coffee. I love, love, love the smell of coffee. Can’t stand to drink it. I even worked in a coffee shop for 3 years. Still couldn’t stand to drink it. I love tea, but I’ll drink like 7-8 cups of green tea a day just to stay warm. hehe. Congrats on your award, too! :)

ohboymom November 21, 2012 at 4:40 pm

I can’t stand to drink coffee either…I guess that’s why we both became tea drinkers.:) Thanks for the congrats!

I play tennis too…or I should say, I used to play tennis. Haven’t really done it since we’ve had our kids. I played in HS, through college and in my 20s. I really miss it and hope to pick up a racket again in the future. Enjoyed reading your list! Cool about how you met your husband. :-) Those stories are always fun to hear.

ohboymom November 23, 2012 at 10:23 pm

Kate, Always fun to meet a fellow tennis player…you need to get back out onto those courts!! I played as a kid and into my 20’s as well, but once I had kids of my own, I stopped. I had a friend nudge me back on to the courts and I’ve been playing twice a week ever since (that was about 7 years ago). So, consider this your “nudge!!!” :)

Kate Hall November 24, 2012 at 5:21 am

My sister has nudged me a few times too. I even looked into joining a team, but then we adopted our daughter and I forgot about the team and all their contact info. Now I’m doing this whole blogging thing. It’s definitely not as good for my thighs as tennis would be.

ohboymom November 24, 2012 at 10:33 pm

Ha – definitely agree with you about blogging and thighs! Same problem over here…

Julie DeNeen November 27, 2012 at 12:42 am

Congratulations on your win! Aren’t cheesy blogger awards so much fun? 😛

ohboymom November 27, 2012 at 1:29 am

Yes they are Julie! I’ll take any award I can get!
